Updates to Face Covering Policy at Disney World

Walt Disney World has adjusted its policy regarding face coverings and is now allowing guests who are fully vaccinated to go without them. They are still required on most transportation including buses, monorails, and the Skyliner. From Disney’s latest update:

“Within our communities, we’re encouraged that COVID-19 guidelines have been adjusted and eased by public health and government officials, paving the path for many businesses and industries to take positive steps forward.

As we have done since reopening, we’ve been very intentional and gradual in our approach to our COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Based on recent trends and guidance, Walt Disney World Resort will be making more adjustments to these measures, including physical distancing and face coverings.”

Relaxing the physical distance policy between parties means that phrases like “use all available space…move to the dead center of the room” will be back at Haunted Mansion! Also, you can expect tighter lines on Kilamanjaro Safaris, where queues can be long and space is at a premium.

I have mixed feelings about the change, as I know that some parents are struggling with the fact that their little ones can’t get vaccinated. That said, hopefully, by the 50th Anniversary on October 1st, things will be back to normal. With an upcoming trip this summer, I look forward to reporting back here what the experience was like. Further, I expect to have more to say about Disneyland in the coming days as they open fully to out of state guests on June 15th.
