Traveling to Disney World: A Little Help, Please?

This week, I wanted to share a conversation that I had with a gentleman who was interested in getting into the travel agent business and wanted to focus on helping families traveling to Disney World with special needs including everything from disabilities to dietary restrictions.

This gentleman has been planning a special vacation for his family to Walt Disney World for over a year and had to figure out how to get a wheelchair to where his family could dine to what Disney would do to accommodate special dining needs. He wanted to share that experience with others because it took him so much time to assemble all the information. It was for that reason that I thought he would be a good candidate for becoming a travel agent, or at a minimum someone who could create a great blog about what he went through to get all those things coordinated.

On the two or three times that I visit Disney World each year, I am always amazed to find out how much Disney takes care of every need that a guest might have. It is common knowledge that cast members are not allowed to say, “I don’t know”, but are trained to tell the guest that they will go find the answer. Cast members are constantly looking for ways to make a guest’s experience more magical, and I have seen some real “tear jerkers” when it comes to families that have special needs and want that “once in a lifetime” experience. I have personally set up a couple moments like this in the past for a family that lost a loved one, and I can tell you that Disney does a great job handling the millions of requests that they get annually.

Of course, no one person has all the answers and this is why folks like me look to always learn more about Disney. As a travel professional who focuses on Disney, I have gone through multiple days of intensive training and I have regular sessions almost monthly to learn about a new product that Disney is launching at: Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line or their Adventures By Disney excursions. I constantly read blogs, ask questions of my fellow professionals, and talk to people like the aforementioned gentleman about how they have made the experience better for someone. I love Disney, and I love sharing it with others.

If I can help you plan your next trip or your first one, please reach out. Even if I am not the one to book it, I love to help others and I would love to help you experience the magic of Disney.
